ENMini Gastric Bypass Operation
General features
- It is an operation that is both restrictive and absorption (calorie) reducing.
- It forms a single gastrointestinal connection.
- Its absorption-reducing effect (especially for fats) is more pronounced.
Just like in the RNY Gastric Bypass operation, the stomach is divided into two. The difference with RNY Gastric Bypass is that the intestine is connected to the stomach without being divided. Thus, one less connection is made in total in the Mini Gastric Bypass operation. What reduces absorption is that a longer section of intestine is bypassed in the Mini Gastric Bypass operation compared to the RNY Gastric Bypass operation. There is a possibility of bile reflux in the Mini Gastric Bypass operation, since the passageway for the remaining stomach fluids and the subsequent bile is at the tip of the reduced stomach.
